FOLLOW A SKIN CARE
ROUTINE FOR YOUR SKIN TYPE
Before you follow any skincare routine it's important
to find out what your skin type is, in order to buy
the right products. Dry skin can look dull, flaky
and feel dry and sometimes itchy and sensitive. Oily
skin is more prone to developing acne, but looks younger
and suppler as it is highly hydrated. Sensitive skin
usually reacts adversely to the environment and products
containing fragrance, manufactured oils and chemicals.
Normal skin looks plump, hydrated and vibrant, but
still need the care and attention of a regular skincare
routine.
Combination skin, is usually oily in the T-zone are
- across the forehead, nose and chin; whilst the skin
around the cheeks, lips and eyes can be dry. I would
highly recommend for brides with this skin, to use
products suited to each individual area.
It's important to cleans and moisturise both day and
night to remove impurities from the top of the skin,
especially if you wear makeup everyday. I would also
recommend exfoliating twice a week, using Dermalogica
Daily Microfoliant £22 for stockists see www.dermalogica.co.uk.
For brides who do only have a few months left to your
wedding and want to achieve radiant results in a short
amount of time, here are some treatments that are
a must to try!
3 months
To reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles,
acne scars and uneven pigment try Elemis Tri-Enzyme
Resurfacing Facial £115 per treatment, available
from www.timetospa.co.uk. I recommend a course of
6, 1 every 3 weeks if you have the time to fit it
in.
A great skincare brand to use at home to boost radiance
is Dr Lewinns Radiance Skin Set £60 an available
from www.klmbeauty.co.uk, the set contains a skin
polisher, a hydrator and a radiance booster.
If you have very acne scarred or uneven skin, you
may want to try microdermabrasion, a microdermabrasion
is a deep exfoliation method which works by flowing
micro crystals over the skin surface to remove the
outermost layer of dead cells and uncover fresh new
skin. It is relatively pain free, but a little uncomfortable
to begin with and skin can look a little red for the
follwing two-three days. Results are seen after the
first treatment and skin is visibly clearer, more
radiant and smooth. Visit www.skinclinics.co.uk for
more information of microdermabrasion.
2 months
If microdermabrasion seems a little scary, try a little
'at home' deep exfoliation with Philosophy Microdelivery
Peel £59.00 from www.hqhair.com. This peel is
perfect if you have pigmentations from sun damage
or rough and damaged skin, the results are really
noticeable!
1 month
The month leading up to your wedding can be the most
stressful and it is important to keep up with skincare
regimes and to continue drinking lots of water. Stress
can cause spots to appear, so to prevent breakouts
use Dermalogica Acne Prone skin kit, which also contains
a medicated clearing gel to dry out spots should you
break out a couple of days before the wedding.
On the day
Make sure you get plenty of sleep the night before
the wedding day, to make sure the under eye area doesn't
look dark and puffy. If you feel like your skin need
a quick dose of brightening, try rubbing a lemon cut
in half across your face whilst cleansing, remembering
to rinse and then apply a brightening and smoothing
face perfector such as Estee Lauder Idealist Pore
Minimising refinisher, £24 available from www.esteelauder.co.uk
and then sit back and let your makeup artist get to
work. With clear luminous skin you can afford to go
for a lighter texture of foundation, a celebrity favourite
is Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation or Matte
Silk foundation at £25 and available from large
department stores throughout the UK..
